Schick supplies sulphur dioxide in quality 3.8, corresponding to a purity of 99.98%. Owing to the HACCP certification, the sulphur dioxide supplied by Schick is also approved for use in the food industry.

Physical properties

Sulphur dioxide is an incombustible, colourless, poisonous, suffocating smelling and sour tasting gas. It is produced by burning sulphur or sulphur-containing substances.

It is soluble in water, 1 litre of water dissolves 228.3g of sulphur dioxide at 273K, 112.7 g at 293K. Liquid sulphur dioxide dissolves less than 1% water, it does not attack iron at normal temperatures.
